Dr. Rice is an award winning author with over 20 years’ experience as a clinician, researcher, speaker, and media consultant on body image, beauty culture, and representations of bodily difference. An expert in her field, she has been quoted extensively on popular media and news outlets including CBC TV and radio, as well as The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, and 70 other newspapers and magazines from around the world. In addition to Becoming Women, and Gender and Women’s Studies in Canada: Critical Terrain, Carla has published over 60 journal articles, conference papers and book chapters. Currently, Carla holds the distinguished position of Canada Research Chair in Care, Gender, and Relationships at the University of Guelph.
